Alison Margaret Arngrim (geboren op 18 januari 1962 in New York, USA) is een Amerikaanse actrice en stand up comedian. Zij speelde als kindster "Nellie Oleson" in de televisieserie Het Kleine Huis op de Prairie. Zij speelde gastrollen in series als Love Boat en Fantasy Island.

Momenteel doet zij liefdadigheidswerk naast haar optredens. Zij richt zich vooral op zaken als AIDS (vooral na het overlijden van haar "filmman" Steve Tracy) en kindermisbruik, zij houdt regelmatig lezingen en lobbiet voor de groep PROTECT. In 2004 vertelde ze een incestslachtoffer te zijn in Larry King Live. Hoewel ze weigerde de naam van haar belager te noemen, gaf ze duidelijk aan dat het geen van haar ouders was.

Arngrims vader, Thor, was een Hollywood manager. Haar moeder, Norma Macmillan, was een stemactrice, die zorgde voor onder meer de stemmen van Casper het vriendelijke spook, Gumby en David en Goliath. Haar broer Stefan Arngrim was ook een kindster.

Arngrim trouwde met Robert Paul Schoonover, een musicus, op 6 november 1993. Zij wonen in Los Angeles.

SACRAMENTO — Alison Arngrim, who as a child in the 1970s and early 1980s played the part of Nellie Oleson on the television show, “Little House on the Prairie,” will testify at the California State Capitol on Tuesday about the lasting effects of sexual exploitation. Arngrim has spoken publicly in recent years about the sexual abuse she suffered as a child. On Tuesday, she will speak in support of Senate Bill 145 by Sen. Fran Pavley (D-Agoura Hills), which would raise the maximum penalty for egregious child pornography offenders.

“As a survivor of child sexual abuse myself, one of the things I am grateful for is that there was no Internet when I was a child,” Arngrim said. “Even though I will live with my trauma for the rest of my life, at least I do not have to suffer having my pain, degradation and humiliation re-run endlessly on a loop worldwide for sadists’ amusement.”

Arngrim is now a board member for Protect, a national organization dedicated to protecting children. She will be joined at an Assembly Public Safety Committee hearing by Manuel Vega, a retired peace officer and victim advocate, and Dawn Woswick, a survivor who discovered images of her abuse online decades after it occurred. Worswick is now a survivor advocate with California Against Slavery.

California currently has the nation’s weakest child pornography laws, and SB 145 would change that by raising the maximum penalty for the worst offenders: those with huge collections of child pornography, those with images of children forced to endure sexual sadism or masochism, and those who use images to groom children to participate in this horrible crime. The bill is sponsored by Ventura County District Attorney Greg Totten and strongly supported by the California District Attorneys Association.

“Victims of child pornography suffer from this horrible crime for the rest of their lives,” Pavley said. “This bill targets the most serious predators who exploit children and fuel the market for more abuse with images of their crimes.”

The Assembly Public Safety hearing will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday Aug. 13 in the State Capitol, Room 126. Arngrim and the other abuse survivors will be available to speak with the media following their testimony.

In een onlangs verschenen interview vertelde Alison Arngrim dat ze tot op de dag van vandaag nog steeds fanmail krijgt, zelfs uit Zuid-Afrika en China. In Japan en Frankrijk is volgens haar de serie HKHODP nog steeds een groot succes en ze vertelde dat ze uit Ierland post kreeg waarin stond dat in Ierland kinderen die pesten op school Nellie's genoemd worden.
